Colombia: The Little Church Plant

She just couldn’t believe it! There was no way! Daniel* had tried so many times to get off drugs but he always went back. Still, Amelia* couldn’t deny the changes she saw in her husband. She wondered what had happened.

It all started with a little church plant in Bogotá. Three families wanted to plant a church in an unreached part of this huge city. They began working with a local drug rehab center, offering special Sabbath afternoon programs. They always started with songs, after which one of the leaders, Oscar, led presentations on how to get your life back on track. He showed videos of people overcoming great obstacles in life, never giving up. Then came the Bible study.

Daniel was drawn in by the singing. The hymns touched his heart and he was excited about studying the Bible. Before long, he was ready to be baptized into the Adventist Church. Amelia saw how he had changed, and it surprised her. She said, “I want to go to that church. I want to know more!” Now Daniel, Amelia, and their three kids have all come to know Jesus.

In the first two years of this ministry alone, there were 70 baptisms and the church plant connected with about 500 families. God is using this little church plant to change lives!
