Mongolia: The House on the Hill

Imagine reaching the age of 81 and never having heard the name of Jesus! Yanjin first came to know of Jesus from Yure, a church planter serving with his wife in Yanjin’s home country of Mongolia. They met while Yure was conducting an evangelistic series.

Yure was intrigued by a house he’d seen on a hill in the distance and wondered how the gospel would be taken to the family that lived there. He decided to find his way to the house but was unsuccessful. He prayed for that unknown family.

One day Yanjin came to Yure with a request, “Can you come to my house and meet my family?” After walking for 40 minutes, Yanjin stopped and pointed to her house. It was the house that he had been praying for. At that very moment, Yure was reminded that God was leading in his life. He took this picture to remind himself of God’s guidance.

Yure began Bible studies with the family. Soon after, Yanjin was baptized as the first Adventist in her family. After leaving Mongolia, Yure was thrilled to learn that Yanjin has become a missionary herself; she led her neighbor to be baptized as well.

Yure and his family now serve in Tokyo, Japan, where he believes that God is still leading him as he works to reach the millions in that great city.
